Derwood Brett has an extensive career in media, public relations and the electric utility industry. He published newspapers in Arkansas, Louisiana and Florida prior to beginning a career with the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas.
Brett is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University, Ruston (BA Journalism) and completed his MA in Journalism/Mass Communications at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where he also served on adjunct faculty for several years.
He served as Manager, Corporate Communications for Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation and Arkansas Electric Cooperatives, INC, the statewide and Generation and Transmission cooperative for the 17 electric distribution cooperatives in that state.
He completed his professional career as General Manager, Clay County Electric Cooperative, a distribution cooperative serving all or parts of three counties in Northeast Arkansas as well as portions of two counties in Missouri.
He is married to the former Frances Anne West. They have three children and five grandchildren.
